Mallika confirmed the news on social media. She shared a picture of her father and wrote, "Our irreverent, fearless and extraordinary father, Vinod Dua has passed away. He lived an unbroken life rising to the pinnacle of journalism excellence for over 42 years from the refugee colonies of Delhi.

She told that the last rites will be performed at Lodhi crematorium in the afternoon on 5th December. Vinod Dua and his wife Padmavati 'Chinna' Dua had contracted COVID during the second phase of the pandemic. Both had to be admitted to the hospital in Gurugram. Chinna Dua succumbed to Covid-19 in June after a long battle with the disease.

Who was Vinod Dua

Vinod Dua (born March 11, 1954) is an Indian journalist who worked at Doordarshan and NDTV India. In 1996, he became the first electronic media journalist to receive the esteemed Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award. He was awarded the Padma Shri of Journalism in 2008 by the Government of India.

The 67-year-old journalist, a pioneer in Hindi television journalism with stints on Doordarshan and NDTV, lost his wife, radiologist Padmavati 'Chinna' Dua, in June after a prolonged battle with Covid. … Vinod Dua and his wife were in a hospital in Gurgaon when the second wave of Covid was at its peak.

In 1996, he became the first electronic media journalist to receive the esteemed Ramnath Goenka Award for excellence in the field of journalism. Vinod was a host on the show 'Tasveer-e-Hind, which aired on Doordarshan's brain channel, DD3 Media. He served as the channel's host from 1997 to 1998. In March 1998, Vinod hosted the Sony Entertainment Channel show, 'Chunav Chunauti.
