Ground Report | New Delhi: Who is Tamil Author Perumal Murugan; Tamil writer Perumal Murugan's photo has made it to the BJP poster of a campaign called 'Jhuggi Samman Yatra' by the party to reach out to slum dwellers in Delhi.

As part of the campaign for Jhuggi Samman Yatra, the Delhi BJP used the image of six people, including two children and four adults, one of whom Perumal Murugan portrayed as a slum-dweller.

While the poster was seen at a Delhi BJP event on Monday, it was already being used for a Twitter campaign of the party and was pasted across the capital. When asked about the fake money, Delhi BJP vice-president Rajan Tiwari said that he would check with the design team to find out what happened.

According to Indian Express, Murugan, on his part, said that he is happy to reunite with the slum dwellers. “I myself belong to slums, so I am happy. I am happy to portray with him,” said Murugan, who has 10 novels and several collections of short stories and poems.

The special poster also served as the backdrop for a meeting organized by the Delhi BJP at Patel Nagar in the city on Monday, November 29, where party national president J.P. Nadda and Delhi unit chief Adesh Gupta spoke.

Who is Tamil Author Perumal Murugan

Perumal Murugan is a Tamil writer who has written 10 novels and several short stories and poems. In December 2014, her book "One Part Woman" ran into controversy over a ritual described in it. The book tells of a woman who has extramarital sex to give birth to a child during the Ardhanarishwar festival, which does not go down well with those who worship the deity.
