In a recent development, Twitter's Head of Trust and Safety, Ella Irwin, has resigned following the ongoing controversy surrounding the censorship of The Daily Wire's platform for alleged "gender equivocation."

Students and staff at Central Connecticut State University took to the streets Thursday to protest the screening of a film they deemed transphobic and insulting. While the university has made it clear that it does not endorse the film's message, the leader of a conservative student group has defended its showing.
The protest saw transgender students and their allies leading the march, expressing their discontent with the controversial film titled "What is a woman?" displayed on campus.
Produced by conservative commentator Matt Walsh, the film explores topics such as the transgender rights movement, transphobia, and the evolution of concepts of sex and gender in the digital age.

The decision to label Matt Walsh's tweets as a violation of Twitter's "hateful conduct" policies, resulting in warning labels and disabling sharing, was blamed on Irwin and her department.
While the circumstances of Irwin's departure remain unclear, Elon Musk is believed to have played a role in her ouster, possibly by demanding a change in policy that shouldn't have happened in the first place.
Although Irwin's resignation is seen as a positive step, she doesn't appear to have fully resolved the issue. During the live broadcast of The Daily Wire documentary What Is a Woman, comments were closed and sharing was prohibited, indicating that censorship continues.
Musk took to Twitter and promised an update that would fix the problem the next day. He also mentioned that The Daily Wire posts containing alleged "gender misunderstandings" would be throttled and disconnected from advertisers.
The Daily Wire's 95-minute documentary “What is a Woman?” it asks "the question you can't ask" and is "the documentary they don't want you to see," according to the film's description. “Join Matt Walsh on his often comedic but deeply disturbing journey, as he fearlessly questions the logic behind a gender ideology movement that has targeted women and children.”
In the thread, Boreing complained that the Daily Wire “brought all of our shows to Twitter on Tuesday because we believed Twitter was committed to free speech, especially on this issue… The other technology platforms have already decided where they stand on the trans debate and demonetize and deprioritize everyone who disagrees. Now, Twitter has joined the ranks of the other tech superpowers in ensuring that one side of the debate is suppressed."

Boreing continued: “I hope @elonmusk reconsiders this horrible policy. If we can't discuss these issues on Twitter, where can we discuss them? If conservatives aren't welcome on Twitter, where are they? It is unlikely that another centibillionaire will come along to offer an alternative."
While it's understandable that Twitter may choose not to allow advertising on posts that don't align with its values, the delay in uncensoring posts and the extent of the limitation raises concerns. It raises questions about why such posts would be throttled in the algorithm when controversial content is regularly recommended by the platform. The Daily Wire's acknowledgment of biological reality should not have such dire consequences.
Musk's intervention in this matter has created a complicated situation. To restore confidence, it would be prudent to completely rectify the situation rather than take partial measures. Anything short of a comprehensive resolution can further erode trust in Twitter, which has already faced criticism for stifling conservative ideas.
