Kamal Hasaan’s Vikram is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar in multiple languages. And, if you have seen the film you’d be in awe of the tremendous background score produced by Anirudh Ravichandran. Vikram is an ‘An Anirudh Musical’. As you can guess, the movie credits don’t shy away from promoting the makers’ collaboration with the very talented Anirudh. Anirudh, as an artist, has a reputation for producing incredible, and catchy themes for movies. I still listen to ‘JD Intro’ from Master, another Lokesh Kanagraj movie, while I didn’t like the movie much.
While I was hearing Vikram Title Track some nth time, my instinct said I have heard part of the music somewhere else. Then, I cracked it. A certain music segment from the title track has definitely been ‘inspired’ by Christopher Nolan's spy-thriller TENET.
The starting music of TENET, and the 1:46 time stamp music of Vikram, and subtle similarities.
A subtle similarity between the two songs can be just in mind, but as Professor Dumbledore from the Harry Potter books said, “Of course, it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” Maybe the makers’ can clarify the doubt, or just care a lot as the movie is a huge success, regardless. In addition, I don’t think taking ‘inspiration’ from a song is particularly the wrong thing to do. A more interesting question is, why from this song?
About Anirudh Ravichandran
The popularity of his recent songs like various movie theme music in some south Indian blockbusters like Vijay’s Vaathi Coming, Dhanush’s Maari theme, Rajnikanth’s Petta & Darbar etc.
The music composer is just 31 and is one of the biggest names in the south Indian film industry with it comes to producing iconic movie songs. Fun fact: Anirudh’s claim to fame was the internet-breaking song ‘Why This Kolaveri Di?’ The song was composed for the movie 3 and was sung by Dhanush.

Written By Rajeev. He likes to know about human experiences and the evolution of society. And, if you don’t find him reading a book then, you’d find him watching a film.
