Twitter has officially changed its logo to ‘X’

Twitter's iconic bird logo has been replaced with an 'X' as its official logo, following Elon Musk's announcement over the weekend. Musk confirmed that x.com now redirects to twitter.com.

The logo change marks Twitter's transformation into 'X', in line with Musk's vision for the platform as an "everything app." The new logo is already available on the website and updates to the mobile app are expected to follow suit.

Twitter employees were informed of the change via email, which signifies the change in branding. Musk also hinted at possible future changes to the logo.

"Now Musk’s “everything app” has replaced the Twitter logo on the web version, signaling a change that he originally envisioned shortly after purchasing Twitter for $44 billion in November. Presumably, the X logo will replace the bird logo in mobile versions of the apps once they’re updated. However, references to Twitter still remain on the main web login prompt."

The social network might not stop at just replacing the logo. Musk said the company will eventually “bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

Late Sunday, the new Twitter logo was changed by Musk in his profile picture. The new X logo has also been changed by Twitter's official account @Twitter in its name and display picture.

Linda Yaccarino, the company's CEO, tweeted that Twitter changed the way people conversed with each other, but X will go further and create a "global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities" and have features "centered in audio, video, messaging, payment/banking." That sounds like a lot of things.
