Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, known for her role as Roshan Sodhi in the popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has made serious allegations against the show’s producer, Asit Modi.
In an interview with ETimes, the actress claimed that Modi had made repeated sexual advances on her during her time on the show. She also revealed that she had filed a sexual harassment complaint against Modi and executive producer Jatin Bajaj, and that she had resigned from the show two months earlier.
According to a report in ETimes, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who plays the role of Ms. Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), filed a complaint against producer Asit Modi, project manager Sohail Ramani and executive producer Jatin Bajaj for alleged sexual harassment in the workplace.
Sources close to the show told ETimes that Jennifer stopped filming for the popular show two months ago. According to the report, her last take for the show was on March 7 and she claims that she had to leave the sets of the show after being insulted by Sohail and executive producer Jatin Bajaj.
While Jennifer initially did not say anything about the incident, when she urged her further, she revealed that she had left the show and that she filmed her last episode of TMKOC on May 6. “I had to leave the sets because I was subjected to humiliation and insult at the hands of Mr. Sohil Ramani and the other executive producer Jatin Bajaj,” she was quoted as saying.
‘They said I’m trying to extort money’
On March 24, Jennifer received a notice that she has abandoned the shoot and that the filmmakers are losing money before she does. On April 4, she responded to them via WhatsApp that she had been subjected to sexual harassment. The actress said she sent a draft and they got back to her saying she was trying to “extort” them.
She revealed that she sent a notice to Modi, Sohil Ramani and Jatin Bajaj on April 8 and also filed a sexual harassment complaint with the government authorities.
She alleged that Ramani and Bajaj tried to forcibly detain her on set and humiliated her, which ultimately led to her leaving the show. Jennifer said that she remained silent for two months, but decided to speak out to raise awareness about the situation.
She also stated that all the actors on the show are like bonded laborers. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been running for over 15 years and has over 3500 episodes. Several actors including Neha Mehta, Shailesh Lodha and Raj Anadkat have recently left the show.
