Rob Reiner says "a vote for Donald Trump is a vote for America's ultimate destruction"

Rob Reiner, a famous Hollywood director and actor, has launched a scathing attack on former President Donald Trump, accusing him of endangering the future of America.

On 09, September 2023, Reiner, known for his liberal views and outspoken criticism of Trump, tweeted that "America's ultimate destruction is the result of a vote for Donald Trump.". He added that “since the Civil War the threat to American Democracy has not been greater than it is today”.

Reiner compared Trump to the leaders of the Confederacy, who tried to break away from the federal government and uphold the institution of slavery.

He implied that Trump is also a traitor who incited an insurrection on January 6, 2021, when his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. The House of Representatives impeached Trump for a second time for his role in the riot, but the Senate acquitted him.

Reiner’s tweet came amid reports that Trump is planning to run for president again in 2024, despite losing the popular vote twice and facing multiple lawsuits and investigations. Trump has not officially announced his candidacy, but has hinted at it in several rallies and interviews. He has also kept spreading false claims that he was rigged and stolen from him the 2020 election."
