Local variants of COVID-19 virus are causing increasing infection in India. Sujit Kumar, head of the National Center for Disease Control, has reported that “some corona infection cases with UK variants were found in India in the early days, but now many states have reported cases of infection of local variants of corona.”
On Wednesday, the central government said that the fastest growing corona infection in the country is related to the double mutant variants.
Earlier, the government had said that there have not been so many cases of B.1.617 variants that can be linked to the devastation of the second wave in India.
But now the government says that the rising cases of infection in some states are related to the B.1.617 variant.
However, the government has also said that the relationship between B.1.617 and the growing Corona cases has not been fully established scientifically.
India has variants of UK, Brazil and South Africa and the government has described them as worrying variants. 13,000 samples were investigated and of these, 3532 cases were found in Variants of Concern while 1527 cases were found in B.1.617 variants.
These variants have been found mostly in Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal, Delhi, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.
On Wednesday, 4,12,262 new cases of corona have been reported across the country and 3,980 people have died due to infection in the last 24 hours.
At this time, there are 35,66,398 total active cases in the country.
These statistics have been given by the Ministry of Health on Thursday.
In the last 24 hours, 3,29,113 people have recovered from the hospital and returned to their homes. Till now the total cases of corona infection in the country have been 2,10,77,410 and the number of deaths has increased to 23,01,68.
