Heavy rains continue in many states, many areas are engulfed in floods

Heavy rains are continuing from the mountains to the plains. Many states are facing the ravages of floods, many rivers are in spate. On the other hand, flood-like conditions have been created due to water filling in many areas adjacent to the river Ganga and Hindon Rivers.

Monsoon is witnessing many changes in the weather, in which a well-formed low-pressure area is lying over North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon trough is active and is south of its normal position. It is very likely to move slowly northwards during the next two to three days. A Western Disturbance has formed as a trough in the westerly winds over the middle levels.

Given the above weather activities, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Vidarbha, Konkan & Goa, Ghats areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana today, 27th July. That is, today these parts are expected to receive more than 204.5 mm of rain.

Monsoon brings heavy rainfall warnings

The ongoing monsoon season has brought about significant weather changes, including the formation of a well-defined low-pressure area over North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha. The Meteorological Department has reported that the monsoon trough is currently active and positioned south of its normal location, and it is expected to gradually move northwards over the next two to three days. Additionally, a Western Disturbance has formed as a trough in the westerly winds at middle levels.

Given these weather activities, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in various regions. Today, July 27th, Vidarbha, Konkan & Goa, Ghats areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana are expected to receive more than 204.5 mm of rain.

Furthermore, heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Coastal Karnataka. These regions may experience rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm.

Multiple regions face heavy rain and thunderstorms

Other states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Marathwada, Interior Karnataka, and Rayalaseema, are also expected to receive torrential rain, ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm.

Apart from heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely in various areas, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Amid the turbulent weather, the Meteorological Department has issued a stern warning to fishermen, advising them not to venture into the Arabian Sea and other specified areas for fishing or any related activities due to strong winds and squally conditions.

Where did it rain yesterday?

Tomorrow, 26th July from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, most parts of Gangetic Coastal areas of Uttarakhand, Konkan & Goa, Odisha and West Bengal, Saurashtra and Kutch and many parts of Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi Scattered rain or thundershowers occurred at isolated places over West Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

And yesterday, in isolated parts of Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Andaman & Nicobar Islands It rained or showered with thunder.
