A shy boy-meets-sassy girl resulting in jhatpat marriage and breezy episodes on domestic lessons and compatibility take a dark turn following the arrival of Rishu’s hunky, brawny cousin. Extramarital affairs, jealous lovers, and the gruesome death of a man rocks a small town and casts a shadow of suspicion on his wife. Is she an innocent victim as she claims? Or is she the mastermind behind a cold, calculated murder? What really happened? Nothing is as it seems in this unpredictable tale of love, seduction, and deception.
Summary
Three intensely unlikeable people come together in this strange cocktail of romance and revenge. The overall experience, however, feels like someone’s slipped you a roofie. Haseen Dillruba is hardly the homage to Hindi pulp fiction that had been teased. Even by the standards of something you might pick up on a railway platform, the characters in this film behave like no human being you’re likely to meet.
Public Review
Just saw Haseen Dillruba on Netflix and loved it. The story is the king here. It is very well written by Kanika Dhillon with lots of turns and twists. While watching it seems like we are reading a terrific thriller novel. Taapsee Pannu is terrific in expressing her complex character. Such a female character has never been seen before in Bollywood films. Vikrant Massey, Harshvardhan Rane, and Aditya Srivastava also play their part very well. Watch it for the story.
