The case regarding the postponement of the NEET PG 2023 exam was heard in the Supreme Court today, February 24. with a solution.

The bench, consisting of Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Dipankar Datta, said emphatically that they were not making any order anyway and were keeping the matter open until the next court date, i.e. say February 27, Monday. "No order was given today. Arguments on both sides have been settled," FAIMA chief Rohan Krishnan said.

During the NEET PG hearing, Judge Ravindra Bhat said the students who had been preparing together for months had been told they were waiting for months. "We are also aware when we postpone… the agony of the candidates who have prepared… the whole dynamic changes," he said.

The petition has been filed by the aspirants of NEET PG 2023 to postpone the exam which is due to take place on March 5, 2023, and also to extend the deadline for the internship. Some of the students who are doing their internship have requested the postponement of the exam saying that they are struggling to find time to prepare for the exam.

NEET PG Exam 2023 will be conducted for admission into various MD/MS and PG degree courses. The admission card will be issued on February 27 and the result will be declared on March 31, 2023.

According to the NBE eligibility criteria, students wishing to sit for the exam must have completed a year of internship or are likely to complete a year by March 31, 2023.

“Everything I have said is correct and will work for MY JUNIORS. The Supreme Court is the last hope. please do,” Dr. Rohan Krishnan of the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) said in a tweet.

Exam will be conducted on March 5

However, The National Medical Commission today posted a speaking order on its website stating that the NEET PG exam will take place on March 5 as scheduled, while rejecting the representation made by applicants who had previously approached Telangana High Court.

The Order issued by the Deputy Secretary, Post Graduate Medical Examination Board of the National Medical Commission elucidated the following grounds:

a. The date of exam was already fixed 6 months in advance and a notice in this regard was placed on NBE website on 16.09.2022.

b. Initially, when the cut-off date for completion of internship was 31st March 2023, more than 2 lakh students had already registered for exam and had not objected regarding the date of the exam.

c. After representations from various State Government/Universities, the cut-off date of internship was extended to 11.08.2023 and surprisingly only 5000 additional applications were received which constitutes about 2% of the total candidates who are going to take the exam. Postponing the exam will create a problem for 98% of the students who have been studying/preparing for the NEET PG Exam and have represented to not to postpone the date of examination.

d. All the preparations are over and the test is to be conducted at more than 800 centers for more than 2 lakh students.

e. The Academic Session is planned to be started in July, 2023 or as early as possible after counseling.
