A woman alleged she was raped by three boys in a shared taxi before being dumped near Etmadpur, police said. Police said the woman is currently undergoing a medical examination and they are checking all angles.

The incident occurred when the victim had taken a taxi from Noida. The police caught the car through CCTV verification, and the three children were caught.

Etmadpur ACP Ravi Kumar Gupta told The Indian Express that the woman who works at a private garment company in Noida was returning to her hometown of Auraiya, which is around 360 km away, via Firozabad in a taxi when she was sexually assaulted.

“The incident occurred sometime early Wednesday morning in the vicinity of Kuberpur. One of the accused

was the driver of the car. He had called the other two after stopping in that area, after which they raped the woman. The other two also work as drivers in the area,” he said.

The accused later left the woman on the highway below the Etmadpur police station area and fled the scene, a senior official said, adding that the incident occurred on Tuesday night.

The three accused have been detained, said the Agra police, which launched an investigation into the matter on Wednesday morning after the woman approached the Etmadpur police station to report the case.

"The woman had boarded the Sector 37 shared taxi in Noida at around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The taxi was going to Firozabad from Noida. The woman claimed that three occupants of the taxi raped her on the Yamuna highway and left her in Etmadpur, from where he took an autorickshaw to Firozabad," Agra Police Commissioner Dr. Preetinder Singh said.

The commissioner said they reviewed CCTV footage at the toll plaza, identified the taxi driver and arrested him and his two accomplices within hours of the incident, he added.
