Kerala's Gold Smuggling case: ED summons Swapna Suresh

Ground Report | New Delhi: Kerala's Gold Smuggling case; The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Swapna Suresh who is the main accused in this case of Kerala's Gold smuggling to be present before it. Swapna Suresh has summoned accompanying with the documents at ED's Kochi office at 11 am on Feb 9.

The summon came after because of the allegations made by Swapna Suresh against the senior IPS officer and M Sivasankar Former principal secretary of Cheif Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

She also stated that Sivasankar was aware of her activities and has helped out her in many ways including moving out of the state when the gold was confiscated.

She also said that Sivashankar was responsible for the audio clip from jail in which Suresh was compelled to say that central agencies wang her to name Vijayan.

As per senior officials, To get out the problem, once again the required disciplinary action will be initiated against the IAS officer. Sivasankar was taken back in service last month after merely 18 months of under suspension.

Sivasankar in his book Aswathamavu Verum Aana claimed that she was trapping him.
Swapna slammed back Sivasankar on his claims about her in the book.
She told the media that Sivasankar knows everything that she knows and whatever he wrote is just to manipulate everyone.

On 11th July 2020, Swapna Suresh was arrested by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) in Bengaluru in a gold smuggling case, 30 kg gold worth 14.82 crores smuggled in a consignment camouflaged as diplomatic baggage. The customs department of Thiruvananthapuram busted the smuggled gold on the 5th of July 2019.

Later on, Sivasankar was arrested on 28th October 2020 and on 4th February 2021 he was released on bail. The case is being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), National Investigative Agency (NIA) and customs department.
