Ground Report | New Delhi: Yogi Adityanath used Kolkata's development; An Uttar Pradesh government advertisement in a reputed newspaper has sparked controversy over an alleged photograph of a Kolkata flyover being used to depict the economic progress of the state under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's rule.

The Trinamool Congress on Sunday took strong objection to the use of a purported photograph of a flyover in Kolkata in this advertisement. However, the western unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party said that it is yet to be confirmed that the picture is of the Kolkata flyover. The saffron party claimed that while the Uttar Pradesh government builds expressways, flyovers in West Bengal collapse under the Mamata Banerjee regime.

Yogi Adityanath used Kolkata's development picture

This advertisement was published in the English newspaper 'The Indian Express". The ad, titled 'Transforming Uttar Pradesh under Yogi Adityanath', has a picture of a flyover painted blue and white with a 'cut-out' of Yogi Adityanath, the color of which resembles a flyover in the Trinamool Congress-ruled state. Along with this, high-rise buildings and industries are also visible under it.

The message accompanying the advertisement read, "Before 2017 Uttar Pradesh was not taken seriously in terms of investment, but in the last four and a half years of governance in the state, negative perceptions have been broken and in 2020 it is the second largest in the country." has emerged as an economy.

Newspaper apologize

However, after people on social media claimed that one of the three prominent photographs shown in a front-page advertisement of Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Adityanath government is a Kolkata flyover, the newspaper 'The Indian Express, which published the advertisement, chose to select the images. I have apologized for the mistake I made.

It is rare for a newspaper to apologize for the image shown in an advertisement when the contents of the advertisement are provided by the advertiser. Express wrote, 'The cover collage of an advertisement published on Uttar Pradesh by the marketing department of the newspaper inadvertently included a wrong picture. Deeply sorry for the mistake and the picture has been removed from the all-digital version of the paper.

TMC's reaction

However, the mistake of printing the picture of the Kolkata flyover in the advertisement caught the attention of most people. The disturbance was taken seriously, especially by leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is in power in West Bengal and vehemently opposed to the BJP.

TMC did not miss the opportunity to target the BJP on this episode. The Trinamool Congress claimed that the BJP has indirectly accepted the "epoch of development" under the Mamata Banerjee government and even tried to grab it.

Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee tweeted, "Transforming Uttar Pradesh for Yogi Adityanath means stealing pictures of infrastructure seen in Bengal under Mamata Banerjee and using them as ours. The 'double engine model' seems to have failed miserably in the BJP's strongest state and is now exposed to all.

Mukul Roy, who returned to the Trinamool Congress after winning the West Bengal Assembly elections on a BJP ticket, tweeted, "Mr. Narendra Modi is so helpless to save his party that apart from changing the CM, he sees development under Mamata Banerjee's leadership. And pictures of infrastructure have to be used as my own.
