Will BJP be able to Form Government in Uttarakhand

Ground Report | New Delhi: BJP Form Government in Uttarakhand; Legislative Assembly Elections are round the corner. The election is scheduled to be held on 14 February 2022 and the results will be declared on 10 March 2022. 70 Members of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly will be elected. The last elections were held in February 2017, and BJP won the elections, Trivendra Singh Rawat took the oath as a Chief Minister and formed the government.

Due to the numerous internal Political tensions in the state, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh resigned in March 2021. After his resignation, Tirath Singh Rawat took the place but his tenure was also short-lived as Rawat resigned on 02 July, 2021. The next day, Pushkar Singh Dhami sworn in as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. 

As elections are proceeding near, it seems that BJP is going to sweep the majority seats this time as well. PM Modi inaugurated several projects worth over INR 17,500 crore in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Steadily things are falling in a path for BJP which indicates that the government again will be formed by Bharatiya Janata Party. Before March 2021, though there were some disengagements among the leaders and the state was not in favour of the BJP Government.

The Sadhus and Sants expressed their discontentment on the char Dham law and expressed outrage. Moreover, the internal pressure between the party and resigning of CM depicted that all this could be troublesome for BJP in the upcoming state elections.  

Uttarakhand is home to politically significant OBC communities, Brahmins and Rajputs. Even though there was not any accusation of corruption by the opposition party. BJP workers/leaders were not getting the tasks done for the public. 

Present Scenario: 

In a survey conducted by Times Now Navbharat, it speculated that BJP is going to be the one taking the lead. According to the survey’s result, BJP will acquire approx 45 seats in the 70 member house. The current CM Pushkar Dhami received around 40% vote and people want him to return as CM of Uttarakhand. 

CM Pushkar Dhami is also the youngest chief minister of state and is known for his work for a long time. Dhami represents the Khatima Assembly Constituency of Udham Singh Nagar. He has garnered a lot of support from the state’s students and has always been a prominent name in youth politics since the 1990s.

Being a prominent personality from his college time to providing benefits to the state Youth, is one of the important factors in BJP’s favour. Following that, he managed to solve the grievances of sadhus and rolled back the Chardham Devasthanam Management Act.  He has emerged as a strong and righteous leader for Uttarakhand as well as BJP.

Dhami is well versed with the skill of Timely decision making and quick to take actions sensing the mood of the public at the right time. His effective and strategic management seized the opportunity from congress and BJP was able to complete Modi’s dream project without any hindrance and BJP received a timely boost from the judgment.
