Why Russia took strong objection to Indian media?

Ground Report | New Delhi: Russia objection to Indian media; The Russian Embassy in India recently pulled up the country's media for its coverage of the Ukraine crisis and the situation in Kazakhstan on social media. The embassy accused the Indian media of presenting a distorted picture of the situation in these two countries.

Kazakhstan is one of the five Central Asian republics that gained independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is a large country that covers an area the size of Western Europe and has vast reserves of oil, natural gas, uranium, and precious metals.

A press release issued by the Russian embassy reads: “When violence broke out in Kazakhstan and a crisis of political instability loomed, we were watching. Kazakhstan is our friendly country and has a strategic partnership with Russia.

The violence that broke out there was an attempt to disturb the security and integrity of the country. Kazakhstan's President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev turned to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for help.

What is Russia objection to Indian media?

The Russian embassy wrote “The chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council 2022 is the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and issued a statement on the dispatch of the Collective Peacekeeping Force to Kazakhstan.

In view of the threat to the sovereignty and national security of Kazakhstan due to external interference, it was decided to dispatch a short-term peacekeeping force in accordance with Article 4 of the Collective Security Council. The reason behind sending this force is to bring stability to Kazakhstan.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has also objected to the Indian media not telling this "truth". Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement “the Collective Security Treaty was agreed on May 15, 1992, and in accordance with its Article 4, to maintain stability among member states and protect member states from external attacks on national security and integrity ”. Military and other aid will be sent at the request of the country.

“The deployment of the CSTO Peacekeeping Force will take place only when there is a consensus among all members. The same has happened in the case of Kazakhstan. In addition to the Russian soldiers, the peacekeeping force dispatched to Kazakhstan on January 6 also includes soldiers from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. On January 7, the Kazakh authorities issued a statement that law and order had been restored.
