A second-year dental science student at a private medical school here died Friday, two days after she allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the building and was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.

Three days ago, Siddhant Singh Panwar, a resident of Shivalik Nagar Haridwar, abused and slapped her classmate Vania Sheikh, a resident of Rashidnagar, causing her to commit suicide by jumping from the fourth floor.

Video of this incident is also going viral on social media, which Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi shared on Twitter and wrote that BJP-ruled states are becoming graveyards for his daughters, Vania Shaikh, a BDS student in Shubhaarti Meerut, shot from the terrace. She jumped to her death, and her classmate Siddharth Panwar publicly abused her and slapped her for protesting.

A twitter user, said that Vania Shaikh, a BDS student in Meerut’s Subharti University, was caught and molested by her classmate Siddhant Panwar, when she protested, the accused slapped her. She had jumped from the fourth floor of the library, today she has died during treatment.

The police have arrested Siddhant Pawar but it should not be a surprise if he too is released during a Azadi festival citing “good behavior in jail” like the convicts of Bilkis Bano.

Jani Local Police Station SHO Rajesh Kumar Kamboj said that based on a police report filed by the woman’s father, student Siddhant Kumar Panwar from the same batch was arrested and sent to jail.

He said that Vania Asad (22) allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of the Subharti Medical College library building and was admitted to the medical college hospital, where she died on Friday afternoon.

During the investigation, police learned that the defendant had slapped Asad in public, for which she was upset, the SHO said.
