“The accused has been identified as Jitendra Katara (30), who is the grandson of a former village sarpanch. There are injury marks on the private part of the girl's body. It is suspected that the accused raped and then killed her,” the police said.

“The girl was lying naked under a bridge located near the village. His body was taken to Dungarpur district hospital, after which a medical board was constituted and a post-mortem was conducted. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased.

The relatives of the deceased have accused the grandson of the former sarpanch of raping and killing the innocent girl. So far no arrest has been made in this connection. According to media reports, a girl had gone missing from a village in the Sadar police station area. The family had lodged a case of kidnapping in the police station. He told the police that the daughter had fallen asleep after having dinner on Tuesday night. When she awoke in the morning, she could not be found.

"He didn't pay much attention to her thought of going out. But when she did not return for a long time, her search started. When he could not be traced anywhere, the family reached the police station and lodged a case. After this, the police started investigating the matter".

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rakesh Sharma said "a person from the area had lodged a missing report of his daughter at the Sadar police station. He had told that his 10-year-old daughter slept with her brother in the courtyard of the house. When her brothers and family got up in the morning, they came to know that the girl was not present at home".
