Ground Report | New Delhi: Why is Boycott FabIndia trending; The recent Diwali campaign and collection 'Jashn-e-Riwaj' launched by popular ethnic garment brand Fabindia has been well received by people on the internet. Now social media users have objected to the Hindu festival and another appropriation of sentiments.
Why is Boycott FabIndia trending?
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha National President and BJP MP Tejasvi Surya have appealed for a boycott of Fab India company which sells apparel.
BJP MP Tejasvi Surya wrote "Deepavali is not Jash-e-Riwaaz. This deliberate attempt of abrahamisation of Hindu festivals, depicting models without traditional Hindu attires, must be called out. And brands like @FabindiaNews must face economic costs for such deliberate misadventures.

Twitter user Shefali Vaidya wrote “Wow @FabindiaNews great job at de-Hinduising Deepawali! Call it a ‘festival of love and light’, title the collection ‘Jashn-e-Riwaaz’, take Bindis off foreheads of models but expect Hindus to buy your overpriced, mass-produced products in the name of ‘homage to Indian culture’!” she tweeted.
Another user Malhar Pandey tweeted "I have stopped buying clothes from Fabindia from the time I have realised that they fund christian missionary organizations. Everything about Fabindia is anti-india!
Another user wrote "Fabindia is unreasonably expensive and not even that great. Ppl just wanted to show off that they could afford Fabindia, so kept buying from these jokers, while Fabindia kept hiking prices !! There are way better brands which are fair priced"
