The group was set up to end the alleged Sri Lankan government's atrocities against Tamils and to demand an independent Tamil state in Sri Lanka.
According to reports, Thekshana is from Sinhalese background. it is said that Sinhalese soldiers have been accused of committing war crimes against Tamils in Sri Lanka during military action against the LTTE in 2009.
