Ground Report | New Delhi: Why BJP's flag over tricolor; The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday received a strong response from social media users as pictures of the BJP flag on the Indian flag on the body of former UP CM Kalyan Singh went viral on social media platforms.

Congress leader Srinivas Biwi tweeted the picture and wrote that Is it ok to place party flag over the Indian flag in New India? Since his tweet, there is outrage among people on social media.

Why BJP's flag over tricolor

A user named Ashwini Bagri (@Ashwanibagri8) wrote that there should be a case against them. How can there be a BJP flag on the tricolor? Law is one for all in the constitution. Then why not for BJP? Another user named Shraddha Kumari wrote that here too promoting your flag, do not miss any opportunity, to promote yourself.

According to the Flag Code of India 2002, "No other flag or flag shall be hoisted above or above, except as provided later, along with the national flag. No one including flowers, garlands, and insignia." The object will be placed on or above the flag from which the flag is flown.

Netizen immediately took notice of the incident and criticized the BJP for insulting the Indian flag by wrapping it in its party flag. Many Social media demanded action against those responsible for it, while others criticized Chief Minister Adityanath and other senior leaders for not speaking out against it.

Reaction

This is not the first time when BJP disrespected the Indian flag by overlapping it with its party flag. A similar incident happened in Agar Malwa BJP headquarter last week where the Indian flag overlapping with the BJP flag.

Later Congress MLA Arif Masood sat on a dharna demanding an apology from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP National President JP Nadda for insulting the national flag.
