Ground Report | New Delhi: Why BanIPL is trending; Indian cricket fans have been demanding a ban on India's flagship event, the Indian Premier League. They are blaming the IPL as the main reason for their team's loss against New Zealand and Pakistan.
Why BanIPL is trending
It looked like Team India didn't make it to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 and after two one-sided defeats against Pakistan and New Zealand, Virat Kohli and co are on the verge of an early exit from the tournament. With two losses in two matches, India will not only have to win their remaining three games by a huge margin but also hope that some other results will come their way.
However, after two big losses, the blame game has begun and the Indian Premier League (IPL) is again on the firing line. Has IPL become too important for BCCI and Indian cricketers? Certainly not otherwise this team would not have beaten Australia in Australia and England in Test matches in England, which is the longest format of the game.
Captain Virat Kohli said that they were not brave enough, and it was a bizarre performance, however, fans started targeting the IPL for India's failure in recent ICC events.
