Why Arrest Charanjit Channi is trending?
BJP leader Amit Malviya, who heads its IT department, tweeted, “Congress CM Charanjit Channi faces action in 3-year-old MeToo case. He allegedly slapped a woman IAS officer in 2018 with an unfair text was sent. It was covered. But the matter came to the fore when the Punjab Women’s Commission sent a notice.

Malviya also posted a story reported in May this year that said rivals of outgoing Chief Minister Amarinder Singh within the party had accused him of “pursuing” old affairs.
Following the 2018 allegation, the Punjab Commission for Women had taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and even then sought the government’s stand.
