Ground Report | New Delhi: Who was Suryansh Ojha; After an 11-year-old boy reportedly committed suicide due to his online gaming addiction in Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh government decided to regulate online gaming. State Home Minister Narottam Mishra said Thursday that the state government will introduce a law to regulate the practice, which has also claimed several lives in the past.

Mishra, while addressing the media, said: "Online gambling is a serious problem. To prevent incidents as tragic as the ones that are happening, we introduced a law regulating online gambling in Madhya Pradesh, the draft of which is has prepared and we will soon finalize it".

Earlier Wednesday, an 11-year-old boy reportedly killed himself by hanging himself with the rope from the punching bag on the roof of his home in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, police said.

Bhopal Police Additional Commissioner Sachin Atulkar said: "A minor reportedly committed suicide and was found dead at his residence. According to his parents, the minor spent around Rs 6,000 on an online game without their permission. The parents had removed the app once. The investigation is ongoing."

Who was Suryansh Ojha

Suryansh Ojha, a resident of Shankaracharya Nagar Bajaria, was a student in Class 5. Suryansh's father, Yogesh Ojha, who is an optician, told police that his son was addicted to an online game.

"On Wednesday afternoon, Suryansh was watching a movie on TV with his cousin Ayush in the room on the second floor. A few minutes later, Ayush left Suryansh alone and went downstairs.

After some time, Suryansh's cousins returned to the terrace of the building and found that he was hanging on a rope. Relatives immediately took him to the private hospital, but the doctor pronounced him dead after checking on him," police said.
