Who is Technoblade, Youtuber who died from cancer at 23?

Technoblade, one of the most popular Minecraft video makers on YouTube, has died following a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, according to his family.

He was 23 years old. His father read the message aloud on Thursday in a YouTube video titled “So Long Nerds,” which reached millions and became a #1 hit on the trending page.

His last Message

Technoblade wrote in its message, “I hope you guys enjoyed my stuff and I made some of you laugh, and I hope you all live long, prosperous and happy lives because I love you guys Am.” Hours before his death and a farewell message read by his father began: “Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re looking at this. I’m dead.”

He revealed that his real name was actually Alex, reminiscent of a time when he tricked the audience into believing his name was Dave. “Thank you all for supporting my content over the years,” he continued. “If I had a hundred more lives, I think I’d love to be a technoblade every now and then because those were the happiest years of my life.”

The online star, who won Minecraft tournaments and joked about his life while playing the game, explained in a fundraising video posted in February that he underwent chemotherapy, and radiation therapy after developing a painful tumour in his right arm.

With over 11 million followers on YouTube and nearly 4 million followers on Twitter, Technoblade garnered a wide community of people who enjoyed their humour, friendliness, and Minecraft video games.

“He was the most amazing boy anyone could ask for,” his father said in the video with tears in his eyes.

In part of his message, Technoblade thanked those who bought his merchandise and channel memberships and explained that now his brothers could go to college if they wanted to.

“Since Technoblade’s early online days, he was always strategizing to delight and reward his audience, giving away prizes online, encouraging good sportsmanship, and most of all, sharing his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and laughter,” it reads in a statement from his family at the end of the video.

Who was Technoblade?

Technoblade joined YouTube in 2013. She was 14 years old at the time. The description on his channel reads: “I play video games too much. I may not be the best, but my elbows are hot (sic).” However, Technoblade was not his first foray into the world of streaming. In 2009, he launched his first channel, StudioLORE. However, it was the second channel of him and his Technoblade brand that made him very popular among the gaming community, especially among those who play Minecraft.

Mourning

“Alex, you have been the pillar of our community. We all loved your content. You are one the most kind and charitable and wholesome individuals our community has had the privilege to be with,” one Reddit user commented Friday.

“We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy. Even though Alex has passed away, Technoblade’s legacy will never die. We all looked up to you as one of the most wonderful people on this planet,” the user added.

John Green shared his condolences with Technoblade’s family and community Friday.

“So, so sad to hear about the death of technoblade, a talented and hilarious 23-year-old youtuber I often watched with my son. My thoughts are with Alex’s family and friends and fans,” he tweeted.
