Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Bollywood singer-songwriter Rahul Jain for allegedly raping a 30-year-old wardrobe stylist at his Mumbai apartment, an official said on Monday.

In the statement recorded at the Oshiwara police station, the complainant said that Rahul contacted her on Instagram and praised her work. She then asked him to visit her apartment located in a high-rise building in the suburban area of ​​Andheri. According to the complainant, the singer assured her that she will be designated as her personal wardrobe stylist, according to police official.

According to the official, the statement also stated that the woman visited Rahul Jain's apartment on August 11 and asked him to accompany her to her bedroom under the pretext of showing him her belongings and raped her. Mumbai police revealed that the woman works as a freelance wardrobe stylist.

The woman claimed that Rahul assaulted her when she resisted and then also tried to destroy evidence. Police registered the FIR under sections 376 (rape), 323 (causing willful harm) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Rahul, the official said. So far no arrests have been recorded.

In response to this, Rahul has said in a statement: “I do not know this woman. The accusations raised by her are false and baseless. Previously a woman had also made similar accusations against me but I got justice. This woman may be a partner of that woman."
