Malayalam actor and producer Vijay Babu was charged with sexual assault at Ernakulam South Police Station in Kerala. The complainant reportedly alleged that Vijay Babu had sexually assaulted her several times in a Kochi flat.
The actress has filed a complaint against him for alleged rape while looking for acting opportunities. Vijay Babu has reportedly been on the run ever since.
Meanwhile, the actress in her complaint has stated that the actor-producer has sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions and has threatened to reveal her identity online.
Vijay Babu is charged under sections 376, 506, and 323 of the Indian Penal Code.
Vijay Babu in a Facebook live denied the accusations and said that he is the victim in this case. Vijay Babu on Facebook Live revealed the name of the accuser and said that he will file a defamation case against her. “I haven't done anything wrong. I am the victim of this".
The supposed law of this country protects her and she is calm while I am the one who suffers. I'll file defamation and a counter-case. It will not be a minor case. I won't let it get away that easily. I can share all the evidence with me, but I won't because I don't want to cause harm to her family."
Babu said that he would file a complaint against the actress for tarnishing his image. “I would file a defamation case against the whistleblower. Let it be the beginning of a new 'Me Too'. Let's start a new fight."
Who is Malayalam actor Vijay Babu
Born in Kollam, Kerala Vijay Babu, who has been active in the film industry for over a decade, is the founder of the film production company Friday Film House and has six productions to his credit.
Babu studied at St. Jude School, Kollam and graduated from Loyola College, Chennai. He started his media career at STAR India in Mumbai.
In 2002, he was selected as STAR TV's Best Employee. Later that year, he quit his job to venture out as a businessman in Dubai. After a few years, he joined Asianet and Sitara TV as COO in Hyderabad.
In 2009, Babu returned to Kerala as Vice President of Surya TV. He is married to Smitha, an employee from Dubai. The couple has a son named Bharath.
Babu is best known for his roles in Philips and the Monkey Pen and Nee-Na, and as a producer for Philips and the Monkey Pen, Peruchazhi and Aadu. His role as Vinay Paniker in Nee-Na received critical acclaim.
