Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin was charged earlier this month with domestic violence in Puerto Rico, and a restraining order was issued against the artist. According to Billboard, the accuser, who filed the warrant anonymously, was Martin's 21-year-old nephew, who alleged that he dated the singer for seven months before things went sour between them.
Under the accusations made by Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, it is said that he ended a seven-month relationship with Ricky Martin did not take it well, constantly reaching out to him and loitering outside his house.
"Ricky Martin, of course, has never been, and never will be, involved in any type of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew," Marty Singer, Martin's attorney, said in a statement to the publication.

He continued: “The idea is not only false, it is also disgusting. We all hope that this man will receive the help that he so desperately needs. But above all, we hope that this terrible case will be dismissed as soon as a judge examines the facts."
Additionally, earlier this month, a domestic abuse restraining order was filed against the singer under the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act. And more recently, more allegations of violence and more surfaced in the aftermath of an alleged seven-month intimate relationship with her 21-year-old nephew in the Ricky Martin sexual abuse case.
The hearing on the claims and new allegations in the case has reportedly been set for July 21, 2022, in Puerto Rico. Reports suggest that if convicted in the case (domestic abuse with a relative), singer and star of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Ricky Martin could end up in jail for nearly 50 years, if not less.
Sánchez shared that there was physical and psychological abuse that occurred during the relationship. While the legal battle is scheduled to begin on July 21, under Puerto Rican law accusations of incest are taken very seriously. If proven guilty, the artist could be sentenced to up to 50 years in prison, People magazine reported.
On July 4, the Livin' La Vida Loca frontman strongly denied the allegations on the microblogging site Twitter and was optimistic that the matter would be resolved. "The protection order issued against me is based on completely false allegations, for which I will respond in the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterize me," Martin wrote.
“Because it is a pending legal matter, I am unable to make detailed statements at this time. I appreciate the countless messages of solidarity and I welcome them with all my heart.” Martin has not made any further statements since then.
