Ground Report | New Delhi: Who is BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan; In a rare display of sympathy seen in Parliament, a BJP MP told Rahul Gandhi that he understands the pain of losing someone as his father was also killed.

BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan said this after Rahul Gandhi in his speech in the Parliament on Wednesday said “my great grandmother (former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi) was shot 32 times. My father (former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi) was blown into pieces”.

“My great grandmother (former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi) was shot 32 times. My father (former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi) was blown into pieces. I know what it is. You are fiddling with something dangerous. If you don’t stop you will create a problem,” Gandhi had said.

Referring to Kamlesh Paswan, who spoke to him just before, the Wayanad MP said he was in the wrong party. Responding to this, Paswan said, 'My party has given me a ticket, what more do I want? and added, "My father was killed. That's why I know the pain".

As Rahul Gandhi ended his speech in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan stood up and said that he wanted to say something as Rahul Gandhi had mentioned his name in his speech in Parliament. Rahul Gandhi said that I was in the wrong party. I want to tell him that after Rahul Gandhi was the MP from Bansgaon, I could speak only because of my party. My party made me MP thrice. What more do I need?” Kamlesh Pawan said.

You do not listen to anyone and even my dear brothers and sisters in BJP. Today I saw my Dalit colleague speaking, Paswan Ji. He knows the history of Dalit’s. He knows who has persecuted Dalit’s for 3,000 years. But he is speaking with hesitation. He's speaking without saying... I'm proud of him. I am proud of this gentleman. Whatever is in his heart, he has spoken to me. But he is in the wrong party. Don't worry... don't panic," said Rahul Gandhi as he was criticising PM Modi and the BJP government.

When Rahul Gandhi mentioned Kamlesh Paswan, Paswan stood up in protest and there was a stir in the house. "I am a democratic person. I will let them speak."

Who is BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan

Kamlesh Paswan is a BJP MP and he successfully maintained his seat in the elections to the 16th Lok Sabha. He was also the MLA of Uttar Pradesh for one term in 2002. He is a student of St. Paul's School, Gorakhpur and is a graduate of Akhilbhagya PG. College, Ranapar, Chauri Chaura, Gorakhpur.

His father, Om Prakash Paswan, was also a politician and was killed while addressing a public meeting in 1996. In 2018, the Gorakhpur district court ordered the Cantonment police to register an FIR against BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan for alleged land grabbing.
