Using her social media platforms, the 33-year-old actress tirelessly raises awareness about climate change and emphasizes the importance of harmonious coexistence with nature. She passionately states: "I am driven by a deep sense of responsibility towards the environment."

Planted 3,000 trees in Maharashtra

Pednekar further stated: "I never intend to compromise on the types of roles and films I choose. Likewise, I will never stop educating Indians about climate change. I don't want to live in an environmental catastrophe and I aspire to provide a sustainable planet for future generations, I feel the need to stand up for the environment and inspire others to do the same. I want to fight for our survival and encourage as many people as possible to come together." Bhumi Pednekar recently planted 3,000 trees in Maharashtra in honor of World Environment Day.

Previously, Pednekar shed light on environmental concerns by starting the Climate Warrior campaign as a personal project of her own. The online campaign aimed to educate people about climate change and sustainable ways of living.

In an interview with Outlook Planet, Pednekar explained: "In my household, we have been trained to recycle, reuse and repair before throwing away anything, be it food or inedible items. I make it a point to turn off lights, air conditioners and other devices that consume energy when not in use. We use composting and hydroponic systems. Personally, I try to avoid dry cleaning whenever possible. While travelling, I do my best to maintain balance, although it can be challenging. I avoid using single-use plastics and recycle waste whenever I can. I also engage in conversations with anyone willing to listen, in an effort to persuade people to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle."

Who is Bhumi Pednekar?

Bhumi Pednekar (born July 18, 1989) is an Indian actress known for her work in Hindi films. She has gained recognition for her portrayals of strong-willed, small-town women and has received three Filmfare Awards.

Pednekar started her career as an assistant casting director at Yash Raj Films and made her acting debut in the romantic comedy “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” (2015), where she played an higher weight girlfriend. Her performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She then went on to star in commercially successful movies like “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” (2017), “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan” (2017), “Bala” (2019) and “Pati Patni Aur Woh” (2019).

In 2019, Pednekar played the septuagenarian sniper Chandro Tomar in "Saand Ki Aankh" and received critical acclaim. She won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for her roles in "Saand Ki Aankh" and "Badhaai Do" (2022), where she played a closeted lesbian.

Pednekar's filmography also includes movies like "Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare" (2019), "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan" (2020), "Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship" (2020) and "Durgamati" (2020). .

Bhumi Pednekar, a well known Bollywood actress, was born to the late Satish and Sumitra. Her mother, who became an activist after her husband died of oral cancer, worked for the anti-smoking regime, while her father served as a former "Maharashtra Home and Labor Minister."
