Ground Report | New Delhi: Who is Ashwini Upadhyay; In the Jantar Mantar hate sloganeering case, 6 people including BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay have been arrested. According to the information, 6 people named Ashwini Upadhyay, Vinod Sharma, Deepak Singh, Vineet Kranti, Preet Singh, and Deepak have been arrested in connection with 'hate speech.
BJP leaders also reached Connaught Place police station at 3 pm. Preet Singh is the director of Save India Foundation among those arrested. Under this banner, a program named 'Quit India Movement' was done at Jantar Mantar.
Who is Ashwini Upadhyay
Ashwani Upadhyay is a BJP leader and an advocate by profession was involved in the incident at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, where ‘inciting communal slogans’ were allegedly raised. Ashwini Upadhyay was a founding number of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and later he joined BJP in 2014.
Ashwini said that he does not know who are the people who raised the slogans and why they raised the slogans. He does not recognize the accused nor have any slogans been raised in front of them. Ashwani Upadhyay said that he is completely innocent in this whole case.

FIR against unknown people
In the case of provocative slogans, Delhi Police had also registered an FIR against unknown people. Delhi Police Commissioner has given instructions to take strict action against the accused. Delhi Police says that Ashwini Upadhyay and others involved in Sunday's incident will be arrested. Ashwini Upadhyay was called to the Connaught Palace police station.
Ashwini Upadhyay reached Connaught Place police station in Delhi at around 3 pm. He says that he will keep the truth in front of the police. The police are also conducting raids to arrest the accused identified in the case.
Delhi Police issued a statement saying, "Ashwini Upadhyay and others involved in the incident will be arrested. Delhi Police is handling the matter as per law and any kind of communal hatred will not be tolerated.” According to Delhi Police, this event was not allowed. The nature of the slogans seen in the video has drawn outrage from various sections, including political leaders.
The Minorities Commission has sought an answer from the Delhi Police on the slogans inciting violence against Muslims. The commission's director A Dhanalakshmi has written a letter to the Delhi Police asking what action has been taken against those raising slogans so far.
The National Commission for Minorities has taken suo motu cognizance of the sloganeering. The commission has asked Delhi Police to respond by Tuesday. The commission has also asked the police whether those who raised the slogans have been identified and whether anyone has been arrested in this regard.
Delhi Police also says that permission was not taken for the demonstration. The Minorities Commission has asked the Delhi Police what steps the police is going to take to prevent such incidents in future.
Questions raised on Delhi Police
Questions are also being raised on the functioning of the Delhi Police after videos of violent sloganeering surfaced. At the time when these slogans were being raised, Delhi Police personnel were stationed there. No policeman made any effort to stop these youths.
