When will third wave of Covid hit India, what do experts say?

Ground Report | New Delhi: The third wave of Covid may knock in India by October this year. This has been said in a survey of medical experts conducted by the news agency Reuters. Experts say that this time there will be better control of infection, but the epidemic will remain a threat to public health for at least another year. The survey was attended by 40 doctors, scientists, virologists, epidemiologists, and professors worldwide.

According to a poll of health experts of news agency Reuters, the third wave of covid-19 infection in India may come in October. However, it is believed that this time it can be controlled properly and the epidemic will remain a threat to public health for another year.

A survey of 40 experts conducted between June 3 and 17 found that there will be little protection in the fresh wave due to vaccination. 85% of the experts surveyed say that the next wave will come in October, while three say that it could start in early August and mid-September. The remaining three experts believe that it can come between November and February.

24 experts had estimated the wave of the epidemic in India. Of these, 21 said that the third wave could knock by October. Of these, three have predicted the third wave by August and 12 by September. The remaining three said that the third wave of the pandemic would hit India between November and February. At the same time, about 70 percent of experts said that this time the situation will be under better control.

Dr. Randeep Guleria, director of Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), said that this time the situation will be under control and cases will also be less due to vaccination. Also, people infected in the second wave will have natural immunity.

Many experts have warned that after the lifting of restrictions, the market is getting crowded, due to which there is a fear of spreading the infection.

When the experts involved in the survey were asked whether the third wave would affect children more, 26 out of 40 answered yes. Dr. Pradeep Banandur, head of the epidemiology department at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NIMHANS), said the reason for this is that there is no vaccine available for children yet. Medical experts have warned that the situation for children in the third wave could be serious.
