According to locals, the protesters had planned to show black flags to the Deputy Chief Minister. Farmers protesting in front of the car of Ashish Mishra, who was going to receive Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, also demonstrated.

Following this, angry farmers torched three cars, including one of Ashish Mishra, after the incident. The situation in Tikunia is now tense after a large number of farmers gathered at the spot.

The ruckus started only while stopping the convoy of the Union minister's son. It is being told that in order to get Ashish Mishra out of the crowd of farmers, his driver increased the speed of the vehicle, due to which the farmers got caught. There are reports of death due to the crushing of 3 people in this incident. The farmers set both the vehicles on fire, accusing the minister's son of crushing the farmers.

political reactions

Reacting to the incident, former UP Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has accused the BJP of a 'cruel act'.

He tweeted, "Trumping farmers peacefully opposing agricultural laws by the son of the Minister of State for Home, BJP Government, is a very inhuman and cruel act. UP will not bear the oppression of arrogant BJPists anymore. If this is the case then in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP will neither be able to walk or get off the vehicle."

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi also reacted strongly.

Priyanka Gandhi wrote on Twitter, "How much does the BJP hate the farmers of the country? They don't have the right to live? If they raise their voice, will you shoot them, trample them with a car? Enough is enough. This is the country of farmers. Not a fiefdom of BJP's brutal ideology."
