What is KisanGPT?

KissanGPT is powered by ChatGPT and can communicate with farmers in multiple languages including Hindi. The chatbot offers real-time advice on crops, pest control, irrigation, and other farming-related queries. It can be conveniently accessed through smartphones, making it an accessible tool for farmers.

Developed by Titodi's founder, Pratik Desai, this innovative tool is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the farming community, offering personalized support and guidance to increase productivity and profitability.

KissanGPT uses advanced technology, such as the GPT3.5 and Whisper models, and has a layer of knowledge on top of it. Desai continually partners with agricultural universities in India to ensure that the data on the platform is always up to date.

The chatbot has a voice interface and currently supports nine languages, including Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bangla, and Hindi. In the near future, two more languages, Assamese and Odia, are expected to be added to the list.

Pratik Desai's agricultural background

With a background in agriculture, Pratik Desai decided to use his experience in this field. He has a PhD from Wright State University and has been developing AI/ML applications for agriculture for a considerable period of time.

Pratik Desai, a technology and product executive, aims to help Indian farmers. With a background in electronics and communications and an MBA in technology and operations management, Desai has worked as a software engineer at companies like IBM, Ericsson, and Motorola Mobility.

Desai builds end-to-end IoT, mobile, and digital products and services using data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. He recognizes Indian farmers’ challenges, from getting the best prices for their crops to finding direct-to-market alternatives, and is determined to help.

Desai's passion for empowering farmers comes from his roots in Gujarat, where he witnessed rural communities' struggles. His goal is to use technology to bring the benefits of software, hardware, cloud, and AI to Indian farmers to help them succeed.

One of his previous projects involved developing an automated tagging mechanism using generative AI. Desai explained that they generated close to 20,000 stock images in the first month of implementing Stable Diffusion.
