Days after the release of the super flop film Laal Singh Chaddha which was a huge embarrassment in itself, Aamir Khan Productions (AKPPL), posted a message on Samvatsari, the last day of the Jain holy event Paryushan, seeking forgiveness for having hurt. anyone intentionally or unintentionally.

The phrase Prakrit means: "If I have offended you in any way, knowingly or unknowingly, in thought, word or action, then I seek your forgiveness." Aamir has been following the practice for many years.

In the video, a voice was heard saying, "Hum sab insaan hai, aur galityan insaan se hoti hai. Kabhi bol se, kabhi harkaton mein, kabhi mazak mein….Agar maine kissi tarah se aapka dil dukhaya hai, toh…man vachan, kaaya se sama mangte ho.” (All of us are human beings and we only make mistakes. Sometimes through our words and sometimes by our actions, at times we do it without knowing and at times when we are angry. We also hurt people with our jokes and sometimes without talking. If I have hurt your feelings in any way ever then I ask for your forgiveness with my heart, promise and being).”

Post deleted after Typo error in the message

In the clip, a voiceover proceeded to issue an apology, but viewers were amused to notice a typo early on.

Aamir has been practicing the festival of perfect forgiveness for the past several years. But this time the way his film Lal Singh Chaddha was boycotted by the people, after that the apology sought by him through the Jain festival has been seen from a different perspective. After posting the post on social media, Aamir Khan Productions had to delete this post as the human spelling was wrong in it. But the trolls also took advantage of this and said that Aamir Khan is pretending to apologize.

What is the Jain festival Samvatsari?

Samvatsari will be celebrated throughout Gujrat between mid-August and September 2022. This regional festival is celebrated in Shukla Panchami in the month of Bhadrapada in the Jain calendar. The festival is celebrated on the same day as Ganesh Chaturthi.

Samvatsari is believed to be one of the holiest and most important days in the Jain calendar. This festival is celebrated on the last day of 'Parva Paryushana', which is the holiest festival for the Shwetambara sect of Jainism. On this day, Jains apologize to all living beings for the misdeeds they have committed, either deliberately or unknowingly. They also forgive people who have hurt them in the past. Kshama yachna divas (day of seeking forgiveness), daya divas (day of kindness) and ahimsa divas (day of non-violence) are some of the other names given to this festival.

Samvatsari is the day celebrated by the people of the Jain community. Samvatsari is observed after an 8-day-long Paryushan festival. Samvatsari will be observed on September 1, 2022.

On the day of the festival, alms are given to the poor and the image of a Jina (great teacher) is paraded ceremoniously through the streets. Believers make a community confession and send letters asking for forgiveness.

Jains say 'michachhami dukkadam' to their friends and family on Samvatsari. The meaning of the phrase is 'I want your forgiveness if I have offended you in any way, knowingly or inadvertently, in thought, word or action.
