Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed Twitter and alleged that it is colluding with the BJP to "shut down the voices crying for justice". "Twitter is following its policy to suspend accounts of Congress leaders or Modi government? Why hadn't he closed the account of the SC commission tweeting similar pictures… Twitter is colluding with the crushing of democracy by the BJP government in India," she said.

TMC MP Derek O'Brien condemned Twitter's action. "What's going on @Twitter @TwitterIndia @jack. What's up? We strongly condemn the blocking of accounts of @INCIndia and senior Congress party leaders,” he said.

Twitter's Response

Twitter has said that these accounts have been suspended due to violation of the rules and when the objectionable pictures are removed, the suspension of the account will be withdrawn.

"If a Tweet violates Twitter's rules and is not deleted by the account holder, the company hides it behind a notice and the account remains locked until the tweet is deleted or the account holder The appeal made by him should not be accepted," Twitter said.
