Before the end of June, the Central Government is seeking discussions with all the regional parties of Jammu and Kashmir to take the political process forward
Ground Report | New Delhi: Central Govt Kashmir; After the abrogation of special status articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, and bifurcation into two union territories, it is now being speculated that the Modi government at the Center will start preparations for conducting assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
This is being estimated by quoting many media reports. On Friday, news agency PTI also tweeted about it quoting an official. PTI wrote, "Before the end of June, the Central Government is seeking discussions with all the regional parties of Jammu and Kashmir to take the political process forward. This includes the assembly elections in the Union Territory."

At the same time, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti from the English newspaper The Indian Express has confirmed on Friday stating that she has received a call from the 'top leadership' in New Delhi to attend a meeting on June 24. However, she said that he does not know whether all mainstream parties have been invited to the meeting.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla reportedly reached out to these leaders to invite them to the meeting at the prime minister’s residence to discuss the future course of action for the union territory, the officials said.
National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah and son Omar Abdullah, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, were among those who got the call, sources said.
Four former deputy chief ministers of the erstwhile state — Congress leader Tara Chand, People’s Conference leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig, and BJP leaders Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta — too have been invited to the meet.
In addition, CPI(M) leader Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) chief Altaf Bukhari, Sajjad Lone of the People’s Conference, J-K Congress head G A Mir, BJP’s Ravinder Raina, and Panthers Party leader Bhim Singh have been invited to the meeting.
The meeting — the first such exercise since the Centre announced the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and its bifurcation into union territories in August 2019 — is likely to be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other central leaders.
Central Govt Kashmir; On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting regarding several development projects in Jammu and Kashmir. During this, he said that the development and welfare of all the people of the Union Territory is the top priority of the Modi government.
Apart from Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, NSA Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, IB Director Arvind Kumar, RAW Chief Samant Kumar Goel, CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh, and Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh were also present in this meeting.

When the government repealed Section 370, which gave special powers to Kashmir, in 2019, additional troops were deployed even before the move, and even then, there were various fears and suspicions among the locals. According to local journalists, the situation in Kashmir has been similar for the past two days and there is great unrest among the people due to the military movement.
On August 5, 2019, BJP led Government revoked the special constitutional powers granted to Kashmir and divided it into two Centrally Administered Territories. One is Jammu and Kashmir and the other is Ladakh. The government had arrested hundreds of political leaders and activists for doing so, many of whom are still being held in various jails across the country.
