What does "love jihad" really mean?

On 4 February 2020, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy told the Lok Sabha that the word "Love Jihad" is not defined under the existing laws. Also, he told Parliament that no matter related to this came to the notice of central agencies. Reddy had said that Article 25 of the constitution gives freedom to accept, follow and propagate any religion.

Even though the central government says that "love jihad" is not defined in the law, the BJP leaders, ministers and governments have taken a strong stand against inter-religious love and weddings in the recent past.
