The Government of India has withdrawn its decision to reduce interest rates on small savings schemes. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that this order was issued in error.

Leaders of the opposition parties and the common people are tightening up on this 'mistake' of the Finance Ministry. The English word oversight (forgotten) mentioned by Sitharaman in his tweet is also trending on Twitter.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra tweeted, "What's the biggest April Fools' joke?" That the interest rates reduced on the scheme of small savings were decided by mistake? Or that Nirmala Sitharaman is the Finance Minister of the country?

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala asked, "Honorable Finance Minister, are you running the circus or the government? People can understand the state of the economy, when a decision affecting millions is taken by mistake. You have lost the right to continue in the post as finance minister."

This was the first announcement by the government to cut interest rates on small savings schemes in the last three quarters.

But this order was withdrawn in one night.

The Finance Minister has attributed the 'mistake' to this, but the leaders of the opposition parties and the common people are tightening it.
