Ground Report | New Delhi: What are the symptoms of Omicron; An African doctor who was one of the first to warn of the spread of a new variant of Corona said that the symptoms of 'O Macron' are very mild. Dr Angelique Coetzee, head of the South African Medical Association, said he had seen seven patients in his clinic with symptoms different from those of Delta.

"What led to the surgery was extreme fatigue, with mild muscle aches, dry cough and sore throat," he told AFP.

Dr. Angelique said that when the seven patients showed different symptoms, they informed the health department officials on November 18 about a 'clinical picture which is not compatible with Delta'.

"The symptoms at this stage were related to a common viral infection and since we haven't seen Code 19 for the last eight to 10 weeks, we decided to take the test," he told Reuters. "We've seen a lot of Delta patients during the third wave of Corona, and they didn't see the clinical picture. Most of them had very mild symptoms and no one had ever admitted patients for surgery.

"We could have treated the patient at home," explained Dr. Angelique. According to him, the virus is affecting people 40 years of age or younger. "About 50% of the patients I treated with Omicron symptoms were not vaccinated," he said.

 Last Sunday, Dr Angelique told the BBC's Andrew Marr that Britain was "unnecessarily nervous" after two people in England were infected with the new virus.

Following their comments, the World Health Organization (WHO) called the new virus a cause for concern and called for caution. The World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement last Sunday that "the initial reported infections were among university students, but it would take days or weeks to understand the severity of the omikron."

The WHO added that "there is currently no evidence to suggest that Omicron-related symptoms are different from other types." The National Institute of Communicable Diseases of South Africa announced the B1.1.529 strain of Corona on November 25.

Following the discovery of the new corona, the United States, Australia, Europe, and Asia have tightened their border restrictions and banned air travel from South Africa.
