On Thursday, in Narsipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, the CID (Crime Investigation Department) arrested former minister and TDP leader Ayyanna Patrudu and his son Rajesh for submitting fake documents in the encroachment case. After this arrest, the politics of Andhra Pradesh has heated up. It was alleged that the duo had occupied the Ravanapalli irrigation canal and constructed the house. After the arrest of father and sons, their supporters are trending #WeStandWithAyyanna on social media.
TDP leaders and activists have opposed the arrest. The protesting leaders have accused the YSRC of doing politics of revenge. Along with this, questions are being raised on the involvement of CID in this case.
How was Ayyanna Patrudu arrested?
Locals say that more than 150 policemen along with CID had reached Ayanna Patrudu's house at 2 am to arrest him. During this, the atmosphere remained tense and Ayyanna's family members also had an argument with the police.
The family members alleged that the police had brought wire cutters and forcefully entered the house.
A case has been registered against Ayyanna Patrudu under various IPC sections 464, 467, 471, and 474. Many sections in this are non-bailable.
On hearing the news of the arrest, Ayyanna's supporters reached his house in large numbers, they also raised slogans against Jagan Mohan Reddy and his government. Supporters demanded the release of Ayanna and his son Rajesh.
Family members and TDP leaders questioned Ayanna's midnight arrest and said that he was arrested like thieves. After this arrest, the family members alleged a threat to Ayanna's life.
In this case, TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu criticized Jagan Mohan Reddy, calling him a demon.
Naidu said ever since Jagan Mohan came to power, Ayanna's family has been harassed.
Chandrababu Naidu also said that Ayanna's arrest has exposed the anti-backward caste face of the government. The government is harassing a leader of a backward caste by filing false cases.
Who is Ayyanna Patrudu?
Ayyanna has been a six-time MLA from Narsipatnam Constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He was also a minister in the TDP government. He has been very vocal about the scams of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
