Out of the total cases, 4 districts- Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Haridwar- have contributed to almost 2773 cases. As a result, State Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh issued an order late Friday night, regarding weekend lockdown in these 4 districts of the state.

Guidelines for the lockdown in Uttrakhand:

  • All government, semi-government and private offices will remain closed.
  • All markets and malls will be closed during the lockdown.
  • Private buses and three-wheeler services will not be permitted to function.
  • Movement of passengers disembarking at bus stations, railway stations and airports have been exempted.
  • Agricultural and construction activities, along with industrial units will be allowed to operate.
  • Essential services (milk booths, chemists, petrol pumps, liquor shops, hotels, etc.) and the movement of those associated with these activities will be allowed.
  • Movement of goods on national and state highways is also permitted.
  • An upper limit of 1500 people entering the state per day has been imposed. These include those coming from trains, planes and all inbound individuals travelling to the state without undergoing RT-PCR tests. In exceptional circumstances, DMs are allowed to issue around 50 special permits.
  • All inbound, asymptomatic persons who have undergone an RT-PCR test, not earlier than 72 hours from the time of travel, and have tested Covid negative, can enter the state without any restrictions. Also, no quarantine is required for such people.
  • All inbound persons, regardless of their mode of travel, have to register themselves on the smart city web portal- smartcitydehradun.uk.gov.in. The registration documents would be verified at the state borders.

The neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh has also been watching a daily spike in cases. Therefore, CM Yogi Adityanath had ordered for weekend lockdown in the state. During this period, all offices, markets and commercial establishments would remain closed. Further, the sanitization process would be carried out in the markets. Only essential services will be allowed.
