Amid the rising Covid cases in the state, CM Trivendra Singh Rawat announced for weekend lockdown in Uttrakhand. This concept of lockdown is similar to that imposed in UP. The total number of cases in Uttarakhand is 4102. Out of these, 996 are active, 3021 have been discharged and the death toll stands at 53. At present, the state has a doubling rate of 27.19 days. The infection rate is of 3.99%. The state has so far tested over 1 lakh samples, of which 7400 results are awaited.

Out of the total cases, 4 districts- Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Haridwar- have contributed to almost 2773 cases. As a result, State Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh issued an order late Friday night, regarding weekend lockdown in these 4 districts of the state.
Guidelines for the lockdown in Uttrakhand:
The neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh has also been watching a daily spike in cases. Therefore, CM Yogi Adityanath had ordered for weekend lockdown in the state. During this period, all offices, markets and commercial establishments would remain closed. Further, the sanitization process would be carried out in the markets. Only essential services will be allowed.
