How citizens aged 70 or above can register for Ayushman Bharat?

All Indian citizens aged 70 and above are now eligible for the Ayushman Bharat scheme, regardless of income level, providing Rs 5 lakh annual health coverage per family.

Senior citizens from families already covered under AB PM-JAY will receive an additional Rs 5 lakh top-up cover for themselves, enhancing their health protection.

The Rs 5 lakh coverage is shared among eligible family members aged 70 and above, accommodating multiple seniors within a single household.

Eligible beneficiaries aged 70 and above will be issued a new card under PM-JAY, specifically for accessing the scheme's benefits.

Seniors currently under CGHS, ECHS, or Ayushman CAPF can choose to either continue with their existing scheme or opt for AB PM-JAY.

Those with private health insurance or covered under the Employees' State Insurance Scheme can still avail benefits from this new Ayushman Bharat extension.

The government has allocated an initial outlay of Rs 3,437 crore for this expansion, with provisions to increase coverage as demand grows.

While specific registration details are not provided, eligible seniors can likely register through local health centers or online portals once the scheme is fully implemented.
