Galveston recorded at least 5.53 inches of rainfall. That surpassed the previous daily rainfall record of 6.41 inches on 2 September, 1941.
Parts of Texas are predicted to experience heavy rain and flooding, while temperatures around the beaches may fluctuate dramatically.
As rain continues to fall across Tom Green County and the Concho Valley in Texas, several schools have announced delays and warns drivers to avoid various roads for security.
"Rain intensity has significantly diminished on Galveston Island, though ongoing street flooding will take a while to recede," the office wrote. "If you encounter watered covered roads, turn around and find another route to your destination!"
"Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses," the warning said. "In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route," mentioned forecast office.
Earlier this year in May, as storms moved across Texas, 1 child died after being swept away in floodwaters.
A broad area of low pressure is forecast to bring heavy rain and flooding along the Texas coast over the next 48 hours, with the potential for the system to build and move inland, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has said.
