Voting begins in Bihar amid covid-19 pandemic

Bihar assembly elections are being held in three phases. Polling for 71 seats in the first phase for the 243-seat assembly has started today.

Nitish Kumar is in the election field to become the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fourth consecutive time. 30-year-old Tejashwi Yadav from RJD is giving a tough fight to Nitish Kumar.

Tejashwi has promised 10 lakh government jobs if he becomes the chief minister. 38-year-old son of late leader Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan is also challenging Nitish Kumar.

The Election Commission has reduced the number of voters at a polling booth from 1600 to 1000 in view of the Corona epidemic. EVMs will be sanitized. Hand sanitizer, soap, water and thermal scanner facilities will also be available at the polling station. Polling has started at 7 am.

Voters continue to reach the polling booth. But this time the view of the polling booth is somewhat different.

The voters engaged in the line are being asked to take care of social distancing.

At the same time, polling booths are also being sanitized periodically to prevent corona infection.

The Bihar assembly election is the first election in the country after the Corona epidemic started.
