Days after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, law enforcement in Milwaukee arrested a 21-year-old man armed with an AK-47 near the Republican National Convention. He was also wearing a mask styled after the horror-movie slasher “Scream".

The arrest, reported by Fox News, happened during routine surveillance checks by Homeland Security Investigations and Capitol Police near the Fiserv Forum, where the convention is being held this year. According to Milwaukee Police Department, the suspect was flagged for appearing suspicious—wearing a ski mask and carrying a large tactical backpack.

Man with AK-47 near rally

The arrest of a ski-masked man armed with an AK-47 near Trump's rally venue in Milwaukee has renewed concerns about security at political events. The 21-year-old suspect was apprehended during routine surveillance checks near the Republican National Convention at Fiserv Forum. Law enforcement officials, including Homeland Security Investigations and Capitol Police, acted swiftly upon observing the suspicious behaviour of the masked man, carrying a large tactical backpack.

Authorities discovered a concealed AK-47 rifle and a fully loaded magazine in the suspect's possession. The motives behind the suspect's presence and the potential threat posed remain unclear, prompting immediate scrutiny and a thorough investigation.

According to the American media CNN, the Secret Service had increased Trump's security as soon as the intelligence was received. However, there is no information on whether Thomas, who attacked Trump, was a part of this conspiracy or not.

The US Secret Service has claimed that after receiving information about the plot to attack Trump, they had also warned the Republican Party about holding continuous rallies and election campaigns in different states.

This arrest comes shortly after a failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania, where another individual opened fire, injuring Trump and causing chaos. The shooting underscored significant security vulnerabilities and raised questions about protective measures for high-profile political figures.

Security protocols have been heightened around Trump and other political events, but the Milwaukee arrest highlights ongoing challenges in ensuring public safety amid political tensions. Concerns persist over potential threats to public figures and the efficacy of security measures at large-scale gatherings.

Meanwhile, Trump, undeterred by recent events, has continued his campaign efforts, securing the Republican nomination for the upcoming presidential race. His resilience contrasts with ongoing concerns over security lapses and public safety at political events nationwide.
