During his visit to Indore, Pinto recorded a video showing clean footpaths, neat public spaces, and organized waste management. “It looks exactly like Singapore,” he said in the video. “A very strange sight for India, no offence,” he added, while pointing to the absence of trash on the roads.

He said he had no idea that Indore held the title of India’s cleanest city for seven years in a row. But what he saw changed his perspective completely. “I didn’t expect this level of cleanliness,” he said. “There’s a proper door-to-door garbage collection system and over 1,800 CCTV cameras keeping watch across the city.”

Pinto surprised by how clean Indore is

Pinto also highlighted a local initiative called the ‘Garbage Café.’ This project allows people to trade one kilogram of plastic waste in exchange for a hot meal. “This isn’t just about being clean. It shows the city has a purpose,” he said. His video called Indore “the Singapore of India” and praised the local government and citizens for maintaining the standards.

The video has reached millions online and received over 38,000 likes. Comments poured in from across the world. One user wrote, “Other cities in India should learn from Indore.” Another added, “Being a resident of the city, I can say this didn’t happen overnight. Everyone has contributed.”

Some viewers also pointed out how many foreign tourists only visit the crowded or poorly maintained areas of India. A user commented, “India has many clean regions. North East India, South India, and central cities like Indore are not shown enough in global travel content.”

Indore’s success is often credited to both government planning and public involvement. The city has maintained its rank as the cleanest in India since 2017.

Daniel Pinto’s honest reaction gave international attention to a city that has quietly worked to transform itself. His video shows that small steps, taken consistently, can change how a place is seen around the world.
