The Uttarakhand government informed the Supreme Court that it has suspended licenses for 14 products sold by Patanjali Ayurved and Divya Pharmacy, both entities owned by Baba Ramdev.
The action followed repeated violations of regulations, particularly concerning misleading advertisements, as detailed in an affidavit filed by the State Licensing Authority (SLA) on April 15, 2024. Among the suspended products were Swasari Gold, Mukta Vati Extra Power, and Patanjali Drishti Eye Drop.
In 2021, an ophthalmologist @DrParulSharma1 observed that the use of a particular proprietary Ayurvedic formulation called Drishti Eye Drops made by Patanjali Ayurved that claimed to improve vision, was in fact hurting her patients. She posted about it on Twitter.

In addition to the license suspension, a criminal complaint was lodged against Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Divya Pharmacy, and Patanjali Ayurved Limited by the district ayurvedic and unani officer of Haridwar on April 16, 2024. This complaint, filed under sections 3, 4, and 7 of the DMR Act, signifies the government's response to alleged breaches of regulatory standards.
The SLA's affidavit also included an unconditional apology, expressing regret for any inadvertent non-compliance with the Supreme Court's orders and citing personal and professional concerns regarding the impact on the authority's career.
