Indore Smart City: Key decisions from advisory board meeting

The Advisory Board of Indore Smart City Development Limited held a key meeting recently. Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya chaired the session. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, MP Shankar Lalwani, MLAs, and senior officials also took part.

Several major decisions were made to improve city infrastructure and traffic management.

Fifty percent of the amount earned from selling poultry center land will go into city development. The focus will be on building roads listed in the city’s master plan.

• AB Road from LIG to Naulakha will be widened to 60 meters.

• The tender for the road from Chandan Nagar to Kalani Nagar will open this week.

A survey at 103 locations along AB Road found several spots lacking the full 60-meter width. In 10 of these places, the issue can be resolved due to existing setbacks. Two locations have small encroachments. Some stretches involve government land from the Medical College, Police Department, and the Municipal Corporation, which can be acquired easily. Road widening is expected to reduce traffic jams in the area.

Work on Marathi Kala Sankul to resume

The interior work of the Marathi Kala Sankul remains incomplete. The Smart City body will use loan funds to finish it within the timeline. Officials also suggested preparing a plan to build an international-level indoor stadium on the nearby land between the Kala Sankul and Corporation Headquarters.

A new committee will be formed to handle traffic issues near historical sites. It will include the MP, Mayor, local MLAs, and the Smart City CEO. The team will visit these sites and plan changes on the ground.

Officials discussed using drones to identify unregistered properties. This move aims to improve property tax collection.

Smart City CEO Divyank Singh shared that a ₹100 crore loan has been taken to finish pending and planned projects. The total fund needed is ₹120 crore. Once land sale money comes in, it will be used to repay the loan.

New roads planned to ease traffic

Plans include building several roads:

• MR-3: Piplyahana Regional Park to Bypass

• MR-5: Indore Wire Factory to Bada Bangarda

• MR-6: Mahu Naka to Ring Road

• MR-9: Robot Crossing to Bypass and Anoop Talkies

• RE-2: Naita Mundla to MR-10

These roads will include cement-concrete surfaces, medians, and electric line shifting. The goal is to ease traffic flow and improve daily travel for residents.
